Rain boots
Advancements in the rubber industry came during the 19th century when
Charles Goodyear invented the vulcanization process (adding sulfur at
high temperature). Rubber became more durable and water-resistant–so
it was obvious to make protective boots out of the material. Today,
many designer companies take the standard model of rubber rain boots
and make them bright and fashionable. Plus, rubber doesn’t require
any animals to be harmed.

Galoshes are a different form of rain boots; they are waterproof, rubber

by those who don’t want to trudge around boots all day
